Pete
Stamper
Pete Stamper, given half a chance, will tell you that life is good in
Renfro Valley and that he is enjoying it to the fullest. He will also
tell you that it hasn’t always been this way––and Pete
should know.
When Renfro Valley blows out the candles on its 66th birthday cake on
November 5th, Pete will be just a couple months away from his 54th year
in the Valley “Where Time Stands Still.” His book, “It
All Happened In Renfro Valley” (published by the University Press
of Kentucky) is the first complete account of the role Renfro Valley
has played in country music, and was released in September ‘99.
You might remember that Pete had a regular slot on Red Foley’s
Ozark Jubilee for three years, a year at the Grand Ole Opry and a year
traveling the country with the Dolly Parton Show. Pete explains these
were just “vacations” and nothing more.
Renfro Valley is home to Pete and his wife, Minnie Lee, and we’re
proud to have them.
